waiting

this period of our lives has been lived with a large undertone of waiting. t.j. is supposed to hear relatively soon about job possibilities...particularly one in seattle. did you know it is so hard to wait?!

we deal with it in different ways, of course...t.j. carries the cell phone around with him everywhere and jumps when it rings. it seems he cannot think about anything else...which i completely understand.

and i have found that i have turned our waiting game into a procrastination tool...for example, we need a new vacuum. so, most people would research it and go buy one. i, on the other hand, would like to first make sure we're going to be in this house for another year before purchasing the perfect vacuum for hardwood floors. what if we move and we have a completely carpet-ridden house? what then? hence, the procrastination. meanwhile, our floors are in a perpetual state of dustiness. here are some other things i'm putting off (in no specific order): various forms and surveys that i need to fill out for work about supplies i need for my classroom, exercising, reorganizing our pantry shelves and our spice rack, crafty projects, rearranging our bedroom furniture, planning our spring break trip (to visit people who don't know we're thinking about coming), calling those people, calling other people, and cleaning the entire house.

hopefully, our season of waiting will be ending shortly...but, we really can't say...only other people who hire people for history teaching positions can say...

. . .

by the by, i have heard from people that they like it when i post photos...i couldn't really think of a photo that matched this blog entry. so, here is a photo of caitlyn and me from our girls weekend (a trip i recently took which i am procrastinating writing about)

i suppose i kind of look like i'm waiting in this photo....hm.
