home from the research trip

carlyle and luella loved having their daddy back.  they think he is just the best.  and i obviously concur.

super visit

while t.j. was researching in virginia, my wonderful parents came to help me out.  i love my folks so much.  we did many a fun thing and the week went by quite fast.  i love having family around.

you know, it's a real shame...as you can tell from these photos...my parents don't really embrace their grandparenting roles:

it seems the kiddos have landed upon "she-she" and "papa ken" for my parents (sheila and ken).  after my parents left, car and lu would wake up several mornings after and ask "where she-she? where papa ken?"  so stinking sweet.  they would then usually answer their question by slowly shaking their heads and saying "car, byebye" which loosely translates to "they left in a car".

i cannot tell you how much i love sharing my children with our family.  it just feels right.

kofod larsen chairs

we got these mid-century glories at an estate sale a few months ago.  i finally got around to changing the fabric on the seats.

oh yes, i should mention that we got the pair for ten dollars.  a google search for this style chair came up with one of these chairs (in worse condition) selling for two hundred and fifty dollars.  whoa.  okay, yes, i'll admit that i'm bragging about our awesome find.  guilty.

eddy city

we took a road trip to see some our favorites in kansas.  all you blog-readers are well-acquainted with the eddys by now.  they are just so great.  we had a lovely time...as always.

our adventures of the weekend:

*celebrating clark's birthday
*getting the town tour...if you are wondering whether or not bob dole's house was part of the tour, then let me just tell you that it was after the hospital but before the fairgrounds.
*going to garage sales with kerry...some of which were absolutely amazing and some that were a little bit too scary.
*t.j. and clark taking a jaunt over to hays.  t.j. loves hays.  like, a lot, folks.
*luella discovering maybell's teapot.  the girl was obsessed.
*going to the best pumpkin patch ever.  i didn't want to leave!
*carlyle getting so tired and overwhelmed at the pumpking patch that he just sat down in the dirt.  but, then, i told him to smile and here is what he did:

*eating some very delicious pumpkin muffins made by kerry, baker extraordinaire
*playing bible trivia and winning (katrina, that is)!!  egads!   do you know the name of the second son of gomer and hosea? (we certainly didn't)
*wandering around their lovely home and getting inspired to decorate and to make things.
*playing at the russell city park.  they truly have a fabulous playground...complete with a toddler bootcamp.
*eating good mexican food...t.j. was just talking about it again today.
*driving through kansas...people in colorado can be so mean to it, but we think the landscape is stunning.  plus, you could not ask for an easier drive.
*playing with those sweet eddy children.  they are truly some of the nicest kids out there.

thank you for letting us come and we'll be swinging through again in no time!
