we broke down and cut the hair! almost two years of growth!
luella's looks pretty much the same...just a little trimmed. alas, carlyle's curls seem to be waning. i know, say it ain't so! whenever he gets out of the bath, i feel reassured that the curls will stick around, but by the time he wakes up in the morning, the curls have flattened to more of a wave. we'll just have to wait awhile to find out what is to become of his hair. either way, he is still the most beautiful little boy i know.

oh jade
our jade plant makes me happy on a regular basis. it is so big that it seems majestic. jade is in love with the climate here. just to show how happy it is, it went ahead and bloomed for the first time. how nice of jade to bloom just as it is getting ridiculously cold out there.
good job, jade.

thanksgiving
we got to host our very own tomlin family thanksgiving this year! can you believe it? i think it was a great success. wonderful people and lots to eat!
in attendance were mike and jayme, carmen, t.j.'s uncle russ, cousins tiffini and elizabeth, and the four of us. everyone contributed something...delicious results ensued!
jayme's famous rolls. yes.
i made my very first turkey! i had some very good tips and help--perhaps the most important being when mike found the hidden giblet bag (that could have been very bad). i also made cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes gratin, brussel sprouts, pumpkin pie cake, sesame seed cookies, and oreo truffles. whew! i had a lot of fun preparing it (and i had some excellent help).
mike made this incredible double swing for carlyle and luella. car was a bit unsure about it, but luella instantly loved it. she wakes up every morning talking about the swing. way to go, papa!
so very nice to see the kiddos interact with their mimi and papa. what joy to watch them run for their grandparents, to laugh with them, to talk with them. it was also pretty special to see the kids with t.j.'s grandmother. at one point, carlyle just flung his arms open to carmen...so sweet. can you believe she endured the ten hour long car ride to come all the way to greeley?
even though we've only lived in colorado for a year and a half, it seems that we've gathered up quite a few wonderful memories here. so thankful for this thanksgiving.

nieces! nice!
a couple of weeks ago, i got to spend some quality time with my sisters in oklahoma. a very nice visit indeed. a trip to oklahoma also meant that i got to meet my sweet new niece dorothy. she was born back in august and i've been itching to hang out with her...here she is:
oh, and, that's not all folks...fresh to the world this week, my brother's daughter, eleanor (she's decided to go by ella):
yep, she's kind of ridiculously cute.

yep, again with the cuteness. congrats dan and kate! i'm so so happy for you. i'll be trying to get out to chicago soon so that i can properly introduce myself.
i'm so very thankful for these little people.

halloween happenings
our little hansel and gretel made the rounds on halloween...we visited miss rae across the street, libby, derek and elias, and sarah, justin and owen. then, we headed over to roma for dinner. after the kiddos went to sleep, t.j. and i passed out candy and watched dr. horrible's singalong blog.
here is a rather upset gretel...she must have encountered the wicked witch that lives in the candy house
hansel is a bit confused here...perhaps he can't find his way home...or maybe he is just wondering why he is wearing his sister's clogs
