Fruit

I just picked a dozen apples off our tree in the front yard. It is just a spindly little guy--he is weighed down by many greenish red apples. They are really good! I am going to make some applesauce either today or tomorrow.

Before that, I was picking raspberries from our bush in the back. I thought that it would have stopped giving off fruit by now, but it is still going. Is there anything better than freshly picked berries? Eating them straight off the bush like that always reminds me of Wisconsin.

On my walks around the neighborhood, I have seen pears, cherries (we have some of those too, but ours are not producing anymore), plums, currants, and cranberries. I am always tempted to steal a taste as a pass by, but then I worry that the owner of the property might see me and yell and at me. I used to play a game along those lines with my Grandma Betty. Basically, I would hide behind this big tree in our backyard, and Grandma would tiptoe up and pick an imaginary apple. Then, I'd holler "Drop those apples!" and run after her. We'd play over and over again...switching parts of course from time to time.
