they turned five

i truly cannot believe that they are so old now.  it's funny to interact with them in some of the same ways i would with all those kindergarteners i once taught.  what fun to start reading and writing with them.  and i know five-year-old humor, that's for sure.

their birthday was a good day.  we opened presents first thing in the morning and went out for breakfast at snooze.  my mom and dad were here which made it even more special.  my mom, bless her heart, made them the cakes they requested which were rather specific.  luella wanted a chocolate tree-shaped cake with chocolate frosting and carlyle wanted a chocolate car-shaped cake with vanilla frosting.
