missing como

of all the weekends out of the year, this is the one when columbia shines.  now, of course, dear reader, i realize that i no longer live in como, but i can be nostalgic.  you see, this weekend is the true/false film festival.  and while i never had my own pass to the festival, i definitely found ways to partake in the wonder and mayhem of this event.  i always saw at least one film and often found my way to one of the big parties at which yummy food was served.  a visit to the uprise bakery was a must as well.  i loved how you would run into people you knew from all aspects of your life.  last year, we saw our children's pediatrician.  plus, you just felt cool rubbing elbows with filmmakers and various stars of documentaries.
we could not make it work to go back this year, but we hope to in the future.  to all our loved ones who are attending, enjoy!

mimi and papa

we had the most fun with mimi and papa.  the grandparents had our two kiddos in stitches within minutes of arrival.  mike and jayme are both so great with children.  having their help was such a gift.  plus, they volunteered to babysit a couple of times--once so i could go out and run some errands and another time so that t.j. and i could have a hot date (sidebar: we went to the kress cinema cafe for dinner and a movie (up in the air) and drinks afterward).  how nice is that!

we made a little trip over to fort collins on saturday.  after a delicious lunch, we went shopping amidst the snowy conditions.  carlyle and luella were so so so good the entire time.  they amaze me.

luella charmed her grandparents with all her silly noises, goofy faces, and of course that sweet smile.  she has also started to rest her head on peoples' shoulders.  who doesn't love that?

carlyle was pretty busy during the entire visit...he wasn't very interested in sitting and posing with his grandparents for a picture.  he would rather show them how close he is to walking.  in fact, he took his first steps all by himself while they were here.  maybe he was inspired by mimi's pedometer.

now that mike and jayme have left, we are missing them big time...come back soon!!

team time

the "team" is us plus our friends tracy and jess.  we have been the team since college (well, my college days, not t.j.'s...he's old, remember?).  we have experienced a lot as the team--weddings, trips, job triumphs and woes, marriage, food, parenthood (tracy and jess with their dogs and us with los dos), loss, growth, moves across the country, wine, beer, and laughter.  we heart the team and we always will.

their visit was superb.  t.j. and jess went snowshoeing in r.m.n.p. (i'm such a coloradoan now just casually throwing out that acronym like it's no big thing).  and, tracy and i went to boulder for an afternoon-o-fun.  there was also lots of time playing with the littlest team members as well (i guess technically their dog would be the littlest, but she wasn't there).

lots of snot and lots of motrin.  the past week and a half has been gobbled up with colds and ear infections.  i would love to say that it is all behind us, but the yellowish green mucus lingers as does the smell of liquid amoxicillin (which i actually remember from my own childhood).  we are managing though.  even with snotty faces, the babes are as precious as ever...

my man's big day

it was t.j.'s birthday on the 19th.  hooray!  we celebrated with t.j.'s cousin, andee and her husband, scott, and their little boy charlie.  they were visiting from chicago.  what fun.  we feasted on enchiladas and olga's salsa and odell beer.  to top it all off, we had a very delicious lemon cake for dessert.

luella, carlyle, and charlie are all very close in age to each other.  i think we all enjoyed watching them interact.  they are a busy bunch.

for his birthday, i got t.j. tickets to see an excellent musician, a. a. bondy, in denver.  so, last night, t.j. and i had a lovely evening in the big city.  we had dinner at caitlyn's favorite thai restaurant (thai basil) which was heavenly and then saw the big show.  our really nice friends stayed at home with the kiddos so we didn't even have to pay for a sitter!

as you all know by now, i am so thankful for my husband.  he is my best friend and my most favorite.
